To learn a language, constant repetition is essential and songs make repeating vocabulary and structures fun! Students enjoy the contemporary sound of Matt's music. Musical styles range from rock to rap and everything in between. The songs are highly melodic and feature simple and memorable refrains which students can learn quickly. These tunes can readily become "starting points" for many theme and story-related activities, and can be readily integrated into basal programs.

Un Jour

julieUn jour, the new CD by singer extraordinaire Juli Powers (whose voice has been likened to the voices of Sarah McLaughlin and K.D. Laing), includes songs with very catchy melodies and dynamic expression. Counting to 100.000 in French has never been as easy or fun to learn, and songs about the days of the week, months of the year, classroom objects, as well as greeting conversation, provide the French learner with remarkable tools for success. This CD appeals to students from grades four to eight.

Juli began as a singer/songwriter and performer of adult contemporary music, adding French education to her repertoire shortly after her debut as a French teacher. When she discovered the AIM she was even more inspired to implement songs in her instruction. Using the PDL for vocabulary, she got instantaneous participation from her students. Juli has written and recorded three fantastic songs for our Histoires en action ! Add-on Kit, and her music is a wonderful enhancement for any teacher using the AIM.
